After leaving the scene and walking away from a couple of great builds in years past, Kevin Misner set out to make up for his past commitment issues and build his best creation yet. Over the past two years Kevin has patiently built the very unique MKIV Jetta wagon you see here. After combining the potent mixture of a 3.2L VR6, Haldex AWD system, HPA Turbo Kit, Bag Riders Air ride and room for the kids, Kevin was on to something quite special. With a recipe like this, Kevin’s wagon is starting to creep into RS6 Avant territory and doing it at a fraction of the cost. True hot rod fashion! The combination of speed and aggressive looks turns heads every time the iconic VR sound is heard from his “grocery getter”, or it “Air’s out” at a local show.
You may have caught a peak of this whip already as it made its rounds with the HPA booth at Waterfest this past July, Was Aired out at our own Show and Go in September, and most notably gracing the pages of the December issue of Performance VW Magazine. Not only is Kevin a long time supporter of CO, the words describing his journey in the December 2012 issue of PVW were written by our own writer/moderator Michael Dick (Driverwanted), and the beautiful shots are from our websites photographer Clayton Cole (CTMFC). Although it’s taken a long time, it’s great to see our members and community getting the recognition that they deserve, congrats to all!
Although most would say the car is near perfect at this point, you can be sure there are more things on Kevin’s to-do list to ensure this Wagon reaches new heights. Be sure to check out the entire build thread by clicking the orange wrench at the top of the page to see the birth of this outstanding project and to stay up to date on its future upgrades. You’ll also get to see some shots of it when it hits the track. That’s right! Kevin has full intentions of using that HPA turbo kit and Haldex All Wheel Drive system to put down some track times.
Kevin always has a passion for horse power and racing, so only time will tell if this Jetta will be a keeper or suffer the fate of projects past. However if it ever did get parted out or sold (or worse) you can be sure of one thing, it’s only because something even better is just around the corner.
