VMMotorsports originally made these, however since they stopped CAE now produces them. Each one is basically made per order... meaning made for the chassis and the transmission that you'll be running. It took about 3 months from when I ordered it to get it.
If you're ever around my place you can check it out. Honestly with all the power the car has... I think about shifting it the most, it's so solid and short it's retarded.

Cool. Now that I see yours, it looks much different. I do like yours more, though the one above is deff. better than stock.
Did you keep your cables above the floor and just poke through the firewall? _________________ 1981 Rabbit pickup "Rattle & Haul"

I found the other pic of the shifter... you can see the cable and lever for reverse lock out.
As for the cables, yes they run inside the car and out through the fire wall. I did buy the race cables so they are much thicker then stock which prevent binding on hard shifting.

haha. I was thinking the same thing...minus the gay rustang...haha :p. Jk.
I need to build a cage soon and I have a feeling it will be loads of "fun".
I can wait to see this car rolling under it's own power again.
Ohh...and that shifter is nice as fuck! Looks even better in person. |

Yes... I actually already started hacking them into their new home.
Also as I continue to not only chase down more power... I also want to be faster. So I picked up a few new pieces... both to make me go faster.
First up is a new boost controller. Personally I hate running boost controllers as they're generally not as responsive as running the correct wastegate spring. Since the most you can run with straight wastegate springs is 23psi I was limited on my options as I want to run more boost. There was one specific boost controller that I've had my eye on for the past 3 years now, problem is I just could not justify the cost at $630us .. pretty damn retarded considering most run boost controllers that are like $30. I managed to pick this one up used so I saved a bunch.
This controller has so many features it's mind boggling. You can control boost spikes, or adjust based on duty cycle to make big turbos work better down low, or smaller turbos to have more top end power. I won't get into all the features but it's very versatile and the main reason I choose this controller is it has boost per gear. What this means is you can have a specific boost level for each gear. I.E. 1st-5psi, 2nd-10psi, 3rd-15psi, 4th&5th full boost, or whatever you want. This will actually make the car much faster as I'll have a much better chance of dialling the car in to get better traction.
Next up... cams. After a lot of research I picked up a set of Autotech cams. This will help me get to my 8000rpm rev limiter with adding some more power.

wow. This is my favorite project by far.
APEXI makes nice stuff. I've played around with their Air/Fuel controllers in the past, the features are staggering! |

this might just be my lack of knowledge but those cams seem not much larger than stock (no offense)... is this because your car is turbo or is it a high reving thing? _________________ 90 gtx coupe - aba 16v

With a turbo application it's much different then an NA application. Saying that most of the companies who actually make cams haven't really started developing turbo specific applications for VWs. There are a few turbo cams on the market but not many for the 16v.
I've basically been searching for the past 3 or 4 years, and most recommend sticking with stock as they work very well and don't cost you anything, however this particular cam has given great results on turboed 16v's for guys running 300whp all the way up to 700whp. Most have seen great hp gains, along with more top end power with the addition of these. Also since they're fairly inexpensive in the cam world I thought it was worth a shot. _________________ APR Authorized Dealer.

i figured that, it would make sense for him not to want to have huge cams while reving to 8000 rpm, because the more the valves open and the longer the duration the higher the risk of floating the valves, i just dont know if this would happen at 8000 rpm. also, i cant really see bigger cams being bad on a turbo car, unless you are trying to keep your power down low as much as possible... so i am just wondering what his motive was for going with small-ish cams _________________ 90 gtx coupe - aba 16v

You are correct.. up until this point it's always been 100% stock.
New head will consist of:
Major port and polish
HD Valve springs
Stronger valves
Autotech cams
The valves are the only thing I've yet to purchase. It should easily rev past 8500rpm however it likely won't see that high as I won't be making power way up there. _________________ APR Authorized Dealer.
