Operation Elise

Operation Elise

Postby B5BiTurbo » Tue Mar 20, 2012 9:19 pm

Well I've had the car for a little while now and sadly haven't done much to it over the winter. Since the warm weather has hit, the itch started up again..a feeling I know all to well.

Here's a quick look at what got accomplished over winter.

Next few mods probably won't be to everyone's taste, but I'm not to concerned :P

This just showed up yesterday, hoping install to later this week!

Teaser:

Should have 3 more carbon fiber goodies at the post office by the end of the week. Updates soon.

When driving highway speeds the diffuser is very noticeable. You wouldn't think you would notice it that much, but it really sucks the ass end down the faster you go.

I was warned about that stuff from the Lotus guys. Was referred to a guy who puts together kits for lotus over seas, 4 week waiting period, $600 later, supposed to be the best stick on junk you can buy. It's kind of ridiculous how thick it is. I was told it goes on dry and you need a heat gun to get it pliable enough to follow the contours of the car. Going to be nerve racking trying to get it on perfect, but im so excited to get this on.

its thick as hell. my console, back of the seats, shifter surround, door handles, 3rd brake light, door pulls, etc was covered in it. left a mess of adhesive too. doesnt have the sheen of cf, and is really rough to the touch

You've got me curious as to what brand I have now, going to check back with the seller to see what he says. I already have the stuff in hand, already sized for how I want it which is nice.

Edit: He got back to me, It is Xpel Ultimate. Here is a demo of their clear protective wrap and it's "self healing" properties. I'm unsure if the carbon wrap has the same skillz.

I've never heard of Xpel Ultimate; not saying it's not good, just that I've never heard of it. As I'm sure you know, 3M stuff is usually top notch, and I know a lot of people who will use nothing else.

The car is looking fantastic though :) Any big updates on the S4?

Don't waste your time on vinyl, buy one of these: http://www.boefabrication.com/index.php ... ercharging

Let everyone else have the perfectly balance OEM lotus, you need to step up and wreck some shit in the name of speed! Install one of these and I am sure somewhere an engineer at lotus will be shitting their pants in rage that someone tweaked their car ! :D
